Joe Chiocca (Vocals/Guitar) Joe has been a professional musician for over 15 years. He discovered the guitar while enrolled in a seminary high school - yes, our Joe once thought he would be a priest. Luckily for his fellow band members (most of who would not make it as men of the cloth and a few who would be struck by lightning for even trying), he decided his real gift was strumming. Papa Joe starting playing with classic rock bands while in college in Erie, PA. An ad in the city paper led him to the Hollywood Howlers and an ongoing 10 year relationship with bassist Marc Kannenberg. Joe also played Blue Steele; a MD based blues band that won acclaim as the first runner up in the 1997 DC Blues Society Showcase. Joe's blues influences include the Three Kings, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, and Hound Dog Taylor. Having recently discovered Jerry Garcia's playing was like discovering a long lost soul brother. Joe's improvisational passion and wide rage of musical knowledge takes each song and crafts it with his own energy. Joe doesn't just play a song - he plays with it. Marc Kannenberg (Bass) Marc is the scary-smart super-kind bass backbone of JCB. Nothing gets under his skin and nothing escapes him either. His closed eyes and laid back groovy-ness fool you, he is aware of everyone in the crowd, every funky beat and the way Kim giggles when he slaps the bass. Marc currently plays with Joe in another band called Tone Popes and also plays occasionally with Baltimore based band The Barnburners. Joe Wells (Drums) This native Virginian began playing drums over 25 years ago and has been an active figure in the Washington, DC music scene since 1997. After several years on the Atlanta indie rock scene, music school in New York, and the Richmond Blues scene he landed the gig with surf guitarist Danny Morris, recording one album and touring extensively throughout the eastern U.S. and Caribbean for 5 years. He then he took over the drum chair for guitar legend Tom Principato who he has been playing with since 2002, recording 4 WAMA award winning albums and performing numerous tours of the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He has also performed and or recorded with a who's who list of the DC music scene as well as a multitude of internationally acclaimed artists such as - Bob Margolin, Bill Kirchen, Coco Montoya, Tommy Lepson, Deborah Coleman, Peter Stroud, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Banner Thomas, Mary Ann Redmond, Jimmy Thackery, Linwood Taylor, The Nighthawks, Dave Chappell, Jon Paris, Romero Lubambo Seth Kibel, W.C. Clark, Billy C. Wirtz, Steve Wolf, Jeff Sarli, Robert Lighthouse, Mike Ault, Billy Price, Jerry Peek, Chris Watling, Alan MacEwan and many more. Currently he can be found splitting his time between Tom Principato, Joe Chiocca Band, Judge Smith, Killer B's, JohnDC's Combo Indigo, and various other projects. Randy Lilleston (Harp/Percussion/Vocals) Randy Lilleston started playing harmonica in 1981 in a bid to chase off his college roommate. The strategy worked and he's been annoying people ever since. He cut his musical teeth in bands in Little Rock and Memphis in the 1980s and early 1990s and has played consistently in the D.C. area since 1993. In this area, he's played with The Confabulators, B.G. and the Mojo Hands, with Joe and Marc in The Tone Popes, and every once in a while he's a member of the JohnDC AllStars. John David Coppola (Bass) John has over 25 years of experience in a wide range of musical genres - with thousands of successful gigs behind him. A native Washingtonian, John began his musical career on keyboards at age 7, receiving several regional and national awards. In high school he moved on to the double and electric bass joining the DC based top 40 group Ignition. After earning a degree in photography from The American University, he began performing and recording with the original blues project Watch Your Step! Some of John's adventures include a two-year/300 show international tour with the surf guitar master Danny Morris and The Danny Morris Band. John has also performed overseas in Paris, Barcelona, Seoul, and Tokyo and just returned from a month long tour of Japan and China with Los Angeles songwriter/guitarist Pete Kronowitt. He currently can be found performing regularly in the metro area with he Joe Chiocca Band, Shirkaday, JohnDC's Combo Indigo, Rob Hornfeck, and Judge Smith. |
